The Oka Crisis ~ Powerful Controlled Confrontation

The man on the left is a Mohawk Warrior. The man on the right is a Canadian Soldier.

Out of the picture, behind both of them are more warriors with more weapons.
Eventually they both walk away and no one dies. In time the Mohawks will claim ‘victory’ and the Canadian military will leave.  But before they leave one person will be killed.

This was a very tightly controlled violent protest that resulted in minimal death. Both sides have over the past decades claimed victory and defeat.

Will this type of controlled and disciplined violence work in other places? Perhaps.
