I love stargazing. There is just something that reaches way down into my spirit as I sit under the stars and gaze into the past. Indeed the past not the distance. Remember that the light that comes into my telescope and enters my retina may have been traveling for millions and millions of years.  So I can only see the past not the present.

Which for my Buddhist buddies poses an interesting question; how is it that I can be so in the here and now while I am immersed in the past? Okay enough of the mind games.

This is for the Harry Potter fans simply because one of its names is the Broomstick Nebula. It is tough to see without filters but I have managed it once or twice.

I hope these pictures entice you to go find some dark skies and to look up and see the beauty and mystery that surrounds you each and every day of your life.
