Last night there was a choice to be made. Did I sit at my computer and put out a blog or did I make use of a rare clear night and haul out the scope. The scope won and I feel better. For a couple of hours I was touring the southern skies.

The above picture is M-17 or the Omega nebula. Depending upon your equipment it can look like a horseshoe, a swan or any number of different things. In our 8″ Lightbridge it is definitely a swan.

The picture below is how it looks with a much larger and truly sophisticated telescope.
I do love the heavens and being able to wander through them from my back yard!
